Gerry Zimmerman Inducted into Cambridge Who's Who
Gerry Zimmerman was the first Vice President of Corporate Quality for the Raytheon Company
NEWINGTON, CT, May 21, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Gerry Zimmerman, Vice President of SPX Precision Components, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in business management.
With 32 years of professional experience, Ms. Zimmerman attributes her success to her ability to accomplish challenging technical assignments. As vice president at SPX Precision Components, she is in charge of ensuring quality and compliance of flight safety components for the aerospace and defense industry. Her additional responsibilities include leading the development of the quality management system, developing strategies and goal deployment, managing product assurance/quality, lean and process improvement initiatives, and overseeing hardware and software quality engineering, calibration, internal audits, statistical process control and supplier quality/surveillance.
Prior to joining SPX Precision Components, Ms. Zimmerman worked as the vice president of quality for the Raytheon Company from 2002 to 2008. From 1977 to 1989, she worked as the director of engineering for PerkinElmer/Hughes Aircraft. During that time, her most challenging experience was working on the $300M NASA Chandra X-Ray Telescope Project.
Ms. Zimmerman is a member of the Small Business Council and the Institute for Business and Technology Development, at Central Connecticut State University. She is affiliated with the American Society for Quality, and had served on the Software Engineering Standards Subcommittee for the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers. She is also on the Board of Directors for the Child and family Institute of Fairfield County (CT).
In 1988, Ms. Zimmerman became a certified software quality analyst through the Quality Assurance Institute. She received her Master's Degree in Computer Science in 1984. Additionally, she received her Master of Business Administration in 1981 from the University of Connecticut School of Business, and her Bachelor's Degree in Business in 1977 from Western Connecticut State University.
